VAST coordinates a number of exhibitions each year.  Each exhibition contributes uniquely to the mission and goals of VAST.  An overview of each exhibition is provided on this page.  For information about a specific exhibition, please select the appropriate link from the Exhibitions menu.

Exhibition funding is provided in part by entry fees and contributions from Sponsors. VAST receives generous cash and merchandise awards from local individuals, businesses, and national fine artist materials companies.  For information about our partners, please click here.

125-Mile Visual Arts Exhibition

VAST created this exhibition to reinstate our long tradition of showcasing 2D and 3D juried art work from DFW to southern Oklahoma. Artists living within 125 miles of Denton, TX are eligible to enter this exhibition. This exhibition currently takes place in the Gough Gallery, at the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts.

VAST Members Exhibition

VAST sponsors this annual event to offer its members an important opportunity to enter their work in a juried exhibition that showcases members only. The exhibit provides an excellent venue for the North Texas community to appreciate the high quality and diverse nature of art produced by area artists. The exhibition is currently held in the East and West Galleries at the Texas Woman’s University Fine Arts Building.

VAST Calendar Exhibition

Each year VAST produces a calendar, our major fundraiser, featuring juried work by our members. VAST coordinates an exhibition of original works as a benefit to the calendar artists. This exhibition is generally held at The Chestnut Tree on the historic Denton square.

Merging Visions

VAST collaborates with the Denton Poets’ Assembly, the Greater Denton Arts Council, and the Denton Public Library to create an annual exhibit of paired original art work and poetry in celebration of National Poetry Month. This exhibition is held in the Meadows Gallery in the Patterson-Appleton Center for the Visual Arts with part of the exhibit traveling to various library locations.

Local Revolving Exhibitions

VAST members have several opportunities to exhibit work locally. Barnes & Noble Booksellers (B&N); Emily Fowler, South Branch, and North Branch Denton Public Libraries; The Chestnut Tree; and The Black Box Theater are all hosting exhibits. Any member of VAST may exhibit two-dimensional work at any of these locations.  Please contact the President or any member of the Board of Directors for specific information.
